CLE Event: Identifying Workplace Discrimination Against Asian Americans

Asian Americans have reported a significant level of discrimination since the emergence of coronavirus in 2020.  Among Asian Americans 39% said others have acted uncomfortably around them; 31% reported being the subject of race-based jokes or slurs; and 26% admitted they feared being the target of a physical attack

The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) tools available to Asian Americans and other federal and state discrimination, harassment, and diversity laws may not adequately address this re-emerging problem.

This fast-paced session, moderated by Leo Yu, Senior Assistant City Attorney of Dallas, and includes panelists from Christopher Ho, Senior Counsel at the Legal Aid at Work (California) and Meyling Ortiz, Managing Counsel of the Labor & Employment Department for Toyota Motor North America offers strategy tips, good practices for attorneys to identify and address anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and affirmative action/diversity/inclusion faced by the Asian American community. This program is intended for lawyers who do not practice in employment law or corporate arena but it is well-suited for experienced labor and employment attorneys.
