DAABA’S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE AAPI LEGAL COMMUNITY THROUGH MENTORSHIP, NETWORKING, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Victor Corpuz
As Victor approaches his 25th year anniversary with his law firm, his passion for employment litigation remains robust. That is because he is one of over 1,000 lawyers in the labor and employment powerhouse Jackson Lewis P.C., a national firm over 65 years old. Since becoming a Principal in 2005, Victor has helped grow the Dallas office to over two dozen lawyers, leads the office’s mentoring program, provides training to young attorneys, and serves on the national Trial and Appellate Practice Group, where he is occasionally called upon to serve as lead lawyer in trials outside of Texas. Having graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in English and law degree from Drake University, he has parlayed the classroom experience into community and Bar service, first serving on DAABA’s Board of Directors, eventually becoming President in 2012, serving on the Dallas Bar Association Board of Directors, and the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Bar Foundation, where he served multiple years on two key committees - - Collins Clerkship and Sarah T. Hughes Diversity Scholarship - - eventually becoming 2018 Chair. He is a Founding Member of both DAABA and NFALA (National Filipino American Lawyers Association). For several years, Victor also served on the Steering Committee of the Texas Minority Counsel Program. A strong advocate for volunteer opportunities, Victor taught adult literacy for six years with LIFT (Literacy Instruction for Texas), played the piano for 13 years with the Contemporary Choir at St. Rita Catholic Community, and occasionally serves at The Stewpot Homeless Shelter. Victor has been married for 28 years to Terry Hopkins, his perpetual voice of reason. They have a 24-year-old son, Stefano. Like his dad, Stefano is an avid Dallas Mavericks basketball fan. The household, however, remains split over the Luka trade.
